Chittoor Kottaram

Chittoor Kottaram

Home to the bird sanctuary hosting the largest number of species, the trading hub of Indian spices, the oldest fort, the longest lake, the largest mall and the first church of the country, Cochin is a place every avid tourist should visit. A state offering such a vast variety of sightseeing opportunities makes a short trip quite not feasible. It has to be allotted a week or more.

To make this stay a luxurious one, Cochin offers a huge choice of hotels and homestay bungalows. One such, is Chittoor Kottaram, a 200 year old palace. An initiative by CGH Earth, the palace is given to only one family at a time to stay, making them feel the royalty throughout.

    What We Love

    • Chittoor Kottaram is 35 kms from the airport, and 15 minutes from the railway station. It is 15 kms from the main city. You are taken to the palace via boat rides, which is how it was accessed in the ancient times as well.
    • The palace has three bedrooms and can accommodate a maximum of 6 people. A master bedroom is flanked by two additional bedrooms. Each room has a bathroom, decorated royally.
    • The concept of the palace renovation is to show the occupant that royalty does not necessarily have to be lavish.
    • In keeping with this, the design and aesthetics are minimalistic, with just a dash of luxury in between.
    • The occupants need to remain barefooted while in the palace, and no extra luxuries are offered.
    • The food is traditional Kerala delicacies with a hint of older times, and is purely vegetarian.

    What To Know

If the chance of experiencing a true king size lifestyle isn't enough, Chittoor Kottaram offers a plethora of other attractions.

    • Cruises: surrounded by the water, feel free to take a pleasure cruise at any time of the day. Another option to rejuvenate is taking a dip in the pool, which is a part of the palace.
